Dr. Keiji Taniguchi

Dr. Keiji Taniguchi was born on November 20, 1934 in Tuyama, Okayama, Japan. After he graduated from the mechanical course of Tuyama Industrial High-school in 1952, he worked at Osaka Gear Works as the Mechanical Designer from1952 to1955. He took a license of the 1st class professional wireless communication engineer authorized by the ministry of Japanese Government. As a result, he enlisted in the Japanese Air Force (JAF) in 1955, graduated from the officer candidate school of JAF in 1957, and then was an instructor of electronics and communications engineering from 1957 to 1964. His advanced grade was a First Lieutenant, a rank to which he was promoted in 1962. Concurrent with his military service he studied Electrical Engineering at the Night School of Japan’s Kinki University, and received his B.E degree in 1964.

 

After resigning from military service, from 1964 until 1973 Dr. Taniguchi worked at Osaka University in Japan as a research associate; during this time he continued his studies and received his D.E. degree from Osaka University in 1972. In 1973 he joined to the Faculty of Engineering at Japan’s Fukui University as an Associate Professor, and was promoted to Full Professor of Electronics Engineering in 1976. He has been an Honorary Professor at Xi’an University of Technology in China since 1996, and has also been an Honorary Professor at Fukui University since 2000. Additionally, Dr. Taniguchi was a consultant for Noda Electric Co. in Japan from 2000 until March, 2004, and has also served as a consultant for ING Co. in Japan.

 

Dr. Taniguchi has been the Technical Advisor of Fukui Prefecture Government since 1981. He has also served as a part-time Professor at Tokyo Medical and Dentist University, and was a part-time Professor at Fukui Medical University. Dr. Taniguchi is the editor, author and/or co-author of 12 books concerning Image Processing, Signal Processing, Medical Electronics, and Applications to Microprocessors and Electronics Circuits. His recent book is titled Microwave Circuit Design Fundamentals and was published by Kyoritu Publishing Co. in Japan in 2004. He is also the author or the co-author of more than 145 technical papers which have been published in refereed journal articles and proceedings. His most recent paper is titled A New Technique for Measuring the Distribution of Charge-to-Mass Ratio for Toner Particles with On-Line Use, and was published in the Journal of Imaging Science and Technology in 2003. Moreover, he is an inventor with 25 patents.

 

Dr. Taniguchi is licensed as an Instructor of Skiing as authorized by the Ski Association of Japan (SAJ), and is licensed as a Coach of Swimming, fully authorized by the Swimming Association of Japan (NSR). He has been a member of SAJ since 1985. Dr. Taniguchi has been profiled in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in Finance and Business, and he has also been a member of 500 Great Asians of the Early 21st Century, 500 Great Minds of the Early 21st Century, and Profiles in Excellence: 500 Biographies of Inspiration, Dedication and Accomplishment.
